GoG Wanderings

Moongazer had seen the tear that Scythe had squirted out, then hid it. She wondered if she should feel shocked, be laughing, or think it as kind. Kind, she thought. The dragon called Ebony had been kind and Scythe had been touched. Sweet, she thought.

Scythe curled his lips. "Yes, we," he growled to Wingflight. "I thought you said I could go with you."

Moongazer wearily sighed. She hoped this wouldn't become a fight. She became alert, ready to tackle the two if they try to battle. "Where are the Ice Swords located?" she questioned.

"At an overloaded snowbank in the northern kingdoms. Would you like to visit?"

The gray dragon thought about it. "maybe for a while, I would like to see your camp." She hesitated. "Would that be alright with you guys?"

Wingflight smiled. "Sure, as long as you have my permission."

Lifting her wings, Ebony was ready to get going. She'd been in one spot too long already.
She looked at Scythe and lowered her head again. "Ve vill all be flying, little one. How vill you keep up, eh? Climb on back now if you tink you cannot keep up vith fast dragons."
While Wingflight and Moongazer were arguing, she lay quickly on her stomach. There was no way the wolf would be able to climb up her steep sides, and if he jumped there would be a great chance he'd impale himself on a spike. In order to avoid problems, she extended a foreleg for him to use as a ramp onto her back.

Wingflight sprang into the air. "Come on!"

Moongazer rose to her feet and spread out her gigantic wings once more. She stretched them for a second, and then flapped them. She rose into the air.

Scythe grinned at Ebony. "Me, not be able to keep up?" he said, swishing his ears. Then he thought better. "Thanks," he said. He carefully climbed his way onto Ebony, careful not to hurt her or himself. How does she fly with all these scales and spikes? he wondered.

Once Scythe was safely on her back, she stood up. She could feel him shifting around on her back and doing his best to keep his balance. Rolling her eyes, she rumbled "I un beast of armored flight, little Scythe. Mai sscales too thick for wolf claws to hurt. Scales be malliable, meaning they fluff back out ahfter ssmall dent. Use your claws to hold on, and I do the rest to keep you safe, ja?" She looked at the other two wolves and grinned. "Maybe I see you another time, ja? May your claws sstay sharp and prey run bountiful."
And with that, she raised her great black wings, executed a powerfull downstroke, and was quickly aloft. She rose carefully in the air, making sure the land-bound animal on her back had a chance to get used to flight before she did anything too powerful.

(DM, can you start?)

Scythe's eyes widened as Ebony rose in the air. What have I gotten myself into?! he worried, panicky, and shut his eyes. He felt the wind tugging at his fur, seeming to threaten tp pull it off at the slightest movement. His claws were safely fasted under one of Ebony's large, armored scales, and Scythe was pressing close to her tough body in fear. Finally, the dragon's movement became somewhat steady, and he dared to open his eyes.

"...Wow." Scythe couldn't help but gasp as he flew through the air with Ebony. Everything below looked both tiny and beautiful at once. The wind, now a soft, comfortable current, flowed through his shaggy fur, twirling around his ears, and he welcomed it. He closed his eyes and liften his head to the skies. Then, summonging a deep breath, he let out a long howl of joy, its sound being carried behind he and Ebony as the flew on.

Moongazer suddenly remembered the other wolves. "Bye guys," she called softly to them. What now? she thought dryly.

Ebony rose into the sky, the sun slowly traveling towards the evening horizon to her left, the early evening moon to her right, and nothing but open air and freedom in front of her.
Once the small group was up to a comfortable height, Ebony slowed a little and banked slightly to the starboard. She gently curved through the air until she was slightly above and behind Wingflight, both allowing the older dragon to lead the way and keeping Scythe out of the powerful downdrafts the other dragons' wings created.
